Rice plans to name Wolfowitz to advisory panel
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Paul Wolfowitz, forced to resign from the World Bank because of his role in obtaining a high-paying promotion for his companion, is slated to chair a U.S. State Department advisory panel on arms control, a U.S. official said on Monday.
The official, who spoke on condition that he not be named because of the appointment has not yet been made public, said U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice planned to name the former deputy defense secretary and an architect of the Iraq war to chair the International Security Advisory Board.
The board gives the State Department independent advice on arms control, disarmament, international security and other matters and its members include two former directors of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
Paul Wolfowitz was
- wrong on WMD in Iraq
- wrong on disarming and sending home the Iraqi army
- wrong yet again on international security
- and wrong as second banana to Rumsfeld over at the Pentagon on every single matter that came across his desk
So, he then went on to be wrong at the World Bank–no matter the straw man they dredged up as an excuse to fire him. Wolfowitz has only two reliable performance characteristics; 1) his uniform and consistent wrongness in all appointed positions and 2) his unparalleled sycophantic ass-kissing of George W. Bush.
And so, heeeeeeres Paul.
As even the steadiest neo-cons are headed for the exits, Paul knows only too well that no one else in (or out) of government would give him a responsible job.
